GridCanada Certificate Authority staff will be participating in HPCS (High Performance Computing Symposium) in Montreal. Don't hesitate to talk to us if you also plan on attending this event - we will be delighted to talk to you about GridCanada certificates!

Ottawa, May 31st, 2011

We are pleased to announce that the new GridCanada Certificate Authority ( https://cert.gridcanada.ca ) and Web Site ( http://www.gridcanada.ca ) are now live and available for your use!

The new GridCanada Certificate Authority is based on the open source package, OpenCA which allows end users to request both personal and hosts certificates via a web interface. The old system using the e-mail interface will run in parallel with the new system for the next few months, at least until September. However, starting now we encourage you to use the new web interface ( https://cert.gridcanada.ca ) to request your certificate. Once the web interface is in full production, the e-mail system will be phased out. There will be at least one further iteration in mid-summer; which will add a couple of missing features, for example, secure certificate renewal. More on the full feature set can be found on the current web site in the "User's Guide". We have also taken this opportunity to update the GridCanada web site; still at http://www.gridcanada.ca. The site contains full documentation on the new CA interface (look under "User's Guide" tab). The French translation of the site and User's Guide will follow.

GridCanada has been supporting the Canadian Grid and Cloud communities for over 8 years. The e-mail system has given great service, but it's time to move on. We are convinced the new web system will serve us all well for many years to come. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at the support e-mail address: support@gridcanada.ca
