Note that this page is in need of updating and does not necessarily reflect our current thinking about grid-related software.

Globus

The Globus Toolkit is the de facto grid middleware standard. It's the basis for many of the projects listed in the external links. It's the basis for the services that we are currently providing.

Download it and follow along with the installation instructions by Gabriel Mateescu.

If you have further questions about the installation or use of Globus we've found it useful to search through the archive of the discuss mailing list.

Condor

Condor-G is an effort by the Condor Project to provide robust user tools for managing grid jobs.

MPICH

MPICH-G2 is a device for the MPICH implementation of the MPI standard that can straddle grid resources.

Cactus

Cactus is a scientific application framework that can use grid resources directly or via MPICH-G2.

NWS

The Network Weather Service is a system that monitors and forecasts the performance of various network and compute resources.

Others?

If you think we should consider other grid middleware, email <gc-webmaster@gridcanada.ca>.
